126/366: Happy birthday, Luffy~! :D

Along with it being Cinco de Mayo, it’s Luffy’s birthday today! I haven’t really touched my Pullips & company for such a long time, though I must admit they pose well compared to Blythe on their Takara bodies! Most of my babies’ eyelashes have fallen off or are super wonky now. I also have random wigs lying around, since I never actually permanently attached them to any of their heads. Reinor is probably in the worst shape – he was on a Fiori body, so I always had to cover up his stained legs .. But then his feet have broken off, too x: I guess I should get him an obitsu (if the ones in his size even exist anymore?!). I really should have re-homed them a while ago when I was still familiar with the Pullip community, but even now, I feel a strange attachment to them. Maybe since they were the dolls that started this whole new hobby for me, it’s just that much harder to let each of them go.

Things are coming together for my Marceline custom! I have my alpaca re-root from Piparott coming in the mail as of yesterday (UK time). Tools are coming from CC and I’ve already got her new eyechips. I also just bought a Praire Posie to be her base (: I’ve actually received a blank FBL faceplate which I’ll use for practice – I mean, I really don’t want to mess up her smile! All I need to do now is wait for everything to arrive x) I’m so excited!

114/366: Blowing Kisses

After receiving my Nutcracker Lea from Lati the last month, I’ve felt disconnected with my BJDs. I can assure you that this is what spurred my recent re-interest in Blythe. I had owned a CCC before, who I adopted out pretty soon (to my regret now!), but never hit it off with Blythe or the community. Anyways, I can’t exactly give up on Latis now because I’ve met so many awesome people through the community. Lati pictures get the most comments on my stream. I also ordered three dolls – yes, THREE – from Lati’s Le Petit Prince set @___@ I ordered before Lea came with all her imperfections, so I was kind of stuck with my decision. Since people are still waiting for their dolls from the Nutcracker release, I won’t be holding my breath for the LPP dolls to be shipped anytime in the 60 business day period they allow themselves.

I feel like I’m sort of floating around, not really belonging to one doll community anymore. Even though the Latis and Minifees I own are part of the larger BJD community, not that many people have the same overlap that I have with these dolls, so I end up getting the same people commenting only on pictures of mine that feature a specific doll that they themselves own. I mean, it makes sense. Just feel kind of lazy sometimes uploading photos, though! (Not that getting comments is the point of Flickr, of course.)

Doing the Photo A Day for 365 Days challenge for this year is proving to be quite fun. I decided to try this year since it’s a leap year and all. Sometimes I feel forced to take pictures, but other days I get really nice results. I felt that I was taking pictures often enough that it wouldn’t be too much of a challenge, and with the added bonus of owning an iphone with instagram, I can still get pictures on the days that I get home after the sun goes down or when I’m just too busy to be “artistic.”

Bremen Circus

The teaser pictures for Lati’s Bremen Circus release were put up last night. Ruki’s (?) faceup just reminds me of the NC release. I think their faceups aren’t unique nowadays, like they’re focusing on just putting out as many tans as possible. About the tans – I love them, of course. But I feel like all of a sudden, they’re focusing on the tan skin aspect of the releases. People have mentioned that by releasing so many tans, the dolls are getting more affordable. That’s really true – I expected the NC tans to go for higher prices on the market, but it seems like the demand either isn’t there, or the prices just keep falling because the initial list prices were too high. I’m glad that more people are able to afford buying dolls from the secondhand market. Someone had also mentioned that they don’t care that these dolls are “special.” Well, I see them as both personal “toys” and collectors’ items.

I’m also not too thrilled that they’re releasing dolls again so soon. Even though I got my Lea before the 60 days were up, she came to me with some pretty bad flaws. After that, I felt discouraged to buy from Lati again. Then I realized people are STILL waiting for NC dolls to even ship. Plus, they released a green limited line, and now the Bremen dolls are coming out in just over a week. Lati just has so much on their plates right now; when are they going to catch up again?

Enough of that! I can’t wait to see the rest of the dolls. Naturally, Lati releases are the funnest after dolly arrivals. I’m only looking to add a tan Miel to my family. I don’t think they’ll make another so soon after the LRRH limiteds, but we’ll see!

Stuck in the middle?

So I never really got into the Minifee community; could never find others who would actually remember me or my dolls on DoA and would only ever say “oh, she’s pretty” *end conversation*. Well, that’s my fault, though, since I post only sparingly in the thread and it moves sooo fast! Anyways. It’s been a while since I took pictures of my minifee girls, but I still do absolutely love them. Artemia came outside with me today and we got this interesting picture.

Before I got her ready to take outside (had to re-glue one of her eyelashes), the sun had been shining! It was beautiful weather for an outside dolly photoshoot. But as soon as I stepped through the door, a huge, dense cloud blocked the sun x: Then when I finally got sunlight, I realized one of my (really heavy) umbrellas was blocking this pillar .. But it was windy and I was lazy, so I just took the pic lol. Still frustrated about the lighting, but oh well =__= Maybe next time!

A wonderful interview + giveaway! ( interviews Cocochoo)

Go to to read the full interview with Coco! It’s worth a read – especially because we get to see the face behind the artist n__n Coco and BlytheLife are also teaming up to give away this amazing faceplate shown above!

I’ve been a long time fan of custom Blythes. Some artists are just so amazing when it comes to bringing their ideas to life. Coco is no exception to that. What I’m most curious about is the tools that customizers use on their dolls – specifically for carving! When I was still into Pullips&company, there were few people actually modding or carving. But it seems that the majority of customizers carve out their Blythes’ lips. While I’ve only done minor mods (boggled eyes, sleep eyes, eyechip changes), I’d love to get into carving. With my Marceline custom in mind, I’ll have to do just that in order to achieve her smile! I wonder if I’ll be able to paint lips, though – that’s always been a struggle for me :’P

Adventure Time!

I recently started watching Adventure Time as a way to pass the time. Little did I know, this show is super addictive! The artwork is simplistic, but super cute! I fell in love with the show so fast that I even bought myself the Slamacow Finn (pictured below with Icarus the Alpaca). Now to get Jake! :’D

And with the recent invasion of Blythe into my life .. I’m even planning to make a Marceline custom Blythe! Yay! She’s just such a cute character!

I’ve ordered an RBL faceplate to practice carving. I’ve never done any carving work on Pullips, but I’m excited to try Blythe out. I’m probably just going to get a Simply Guava/Mango or one of the cheaper girls to customize. I’m going to get an alpaca reroot done as well so that her hair can “flow” heh. I think I’ve already got three sets of eyechips picked out for her. Not sure what I’m going to do for her lips (and more importantly, teeth!!), but I guess I’ll draft up some potential carvings sometime! I just love her little smirk. I was thinking semi-ducky lips with slightly upturned lips + sculpey teeth. Since I’m not experienced carving, sculpey will probably be the better choice heh. The other day, someone brought up lip stickers at Blythe Kingdom. I had no idea those existed, but I noted that template versions are offered! I might just have to snag some up!

I'll be posting mostly about dolls on this blog! All of these photos have been linked to their original sources. Please do not use photos without proper credit.
